Dennis Electric, Inc. (formerly Byrd Electric) is a family owned business that has operated in Memphis, Tennessee since August 1947. R. M. Byrd, a native Memphian, originally founded the company in 1930. In 1945, Charles H. Dennis, Sr. began working for the company and two years later, he became a partner with Mr. Byrd. In 1950, Mr. Byrd died and the Dennis family purchased his share of the business from the Byrd family.

Over the years, the business has grown tremendously. The company name and address has changed however, the Dennis family has retained ownership. Today, Charles H. Dennis, Jr. and his children Robert M. Dennis, Susan Dennis Crawford, John C. Dennis, Phillip A. Dennis and Cole H. Dennis are stockholders in the corporation and are active participants in the daily activities of the corporation.

Currently, DEI operates two offices. The corporate office is located in Memphis, TN with a second office in Rogers, Arkansas.

Locally, DEI performs electrical maintenance work for hospitals, office complexes, retail stores, churches, schools, data centers, restaurants and clubs. Our service trucks are on 24 hour call and available for emergency situations. If an installation is required “after-hours” while the facility is closed or during a specific window of time, we will gladly accommodate. The windstorm of 2003 tested our abilities and stamina. We secured large and small generators for our customers and had them safe, secure and operating quickly.

Our function in our Arkansas office is primarily to support our work with the world’s largest retailer. We have performed electrical work for them since 1985. That work includes service to the data centers and various office buildings as well as the local stores.

Our primary service electricians are… Steve Campbell (18 yrs of service), Michael Bradley (6 yrs), Charlie Davis (18 yrs) and Mike Smith (8 yrs). They are valuable, educated and trustworthy team members. We are pleased to call them DEI employees. DEI customers routinely request a particular electrician because of the confidence he instills and his familiarity with their facility.
